Are you sitting down? See the new "books" required for US students...
And this from a culture that worships movies....precisely because they are 'story.' Everyone knows that narrative is the means to engaging, motivating, impacting, and inspiring a student. But this truth creates, in my opinion, a terrible dilemma for post-Christian culture, because the power of 'story' implies the presence in humans of something non-material. Darwinism (which has left its adherents hungry, and searching for spiritual energy anywhere but in the God rejected by Darwinism) allows teaching only to the carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen of the cerebrum....which not only rots within four minutes of cardiac arrest, but which loses cells continuously throughout life. What a frail, short-sighted, and limited hope for education...
Keep doing what you are doing, families, to put LIVING literature into your children's hands. You are serving the Lord in a mighty way by raising eternally impactful HEARTS!
